BILLBOARDS AND MORE

Available from July 23

Our conventional fine art prints typically showcase a single photograph of a small area within a microscope slide, with a resolution of 30 MP. This means that the print's size and format are somewhat limited. However, we also offer stitched pictures that are not bound by such constraints. Using our motorized scanning microscope, we can capture massive 5,000 MP images of an entire microscope slide.

These images can be printed at a full 300 DPI resolution on canvases as large as 10 x 6 meters.

SCANNING & STITCHING

We achieve this by using a technique called scanning and stitching, where the microscope takes numerous one-shot pictures while moving stepwise across the slide. These individual images are then stitched together by specialized software to create a single, incredibly detailed image. This allows viewers to zoom far into the image without losing any resolution, much like with Google Maps.

We can take this concept even further by utilizing lithographic 3D printing technology. This enables us to create stitches based on any black and white image, such as logos or family portraits. To accomplish this, we print the image as a height profile onto a microscope slide. The print has a resolution of 50 micrometers and is coated with various colors and materials to add microscopic structures and color gradients. This process essentially transforms the image into the microscopic realm. The resulting slide can then be scanned and stitched, producing an incredibly high-resolution, abstract microscopic rendition of the original image. This innovative product is perfect as a distinctive gift or for creating unique large-scale advertising posters.
